The manufacture of an orthotic always starts with a thorough lower extremity examination. The examination includes standard mobility tests concerning muscle, joint and nerve tissues. In addition, possible bone structure deformities are determined and foot alignment is examined with functional tests. The results of the examination are compared with the client’s standing position and walking. In this way, a comprehensive understanding of the lower extremity and body functions can be acquired. After the examination, the physiotherapist will evaluate whether the orthotics will serve the client’s needs.
